Galigamuwa Pradesiya Shaba Area

Galigamuwa Pradesiya shaba area, which occupies the fifth place in the Kegalle District of Sabaragamuwa Province, is bordered by Kurunegala District to the north, by Rambukkana Pradesiya shaba to the northeast, Kegalle Pradesiya shaba to the east, Bulathkohupitiya Pradesiya shaba to the south, and Ruwanwella and Warakapola to the west. An area of about 12464.46 hectares is covered by Pradesiya shaba areas. In terms of the absolute location of the Pradesiya shaba area, the north is between 220-240 grids and the east-west is between 140-160 grids.

According to the topography, the central and southern parts of the area have a mountainous nature and slopes from the central area to the northern area and from the northern area to the east. According to that, the highest elevation is around 1200 feet in the southern part of Hapudeniya GN Division and the lowest elevation is in the area of Halamada GN Division belonging to the Ma Oya area in the north. Its height is about 90 feet.

Galigamuwa Pradesiya Shaba area is proportional to Galigamuwa Divisional Secretariat Division and it consists of three districts namely Twelve Villages, Kadupita North and Kadupita South. Consisting of 51 GN Divisions consisting of 187 villages, the Galigamuwa Pradesiya Shaba area is enforced by the police stations of Kegalle, Dewalegama and Pindeniya. The total population of this area is 79053 in the year 2022, where most people claim an agro-industrial economic pattern.

The main natural watercourses of the area are Mambaya and Gurugoda Oya. Maoya, which is fed by several small rivers, flows along the northern border of the area, while Kahagaluu Oya, Halamada Oya, and Kuda Oya are small waterways that flow through the area. Gurugoda Oya, which flows along half of the western border, is also a major watercourse.

The nature of the soil in Galigamuwa Pradesiya Shaba area can be mainly identified as red yellow podisolic soil and red brown lateroite soil.
